Summers Day Rain

Foreword: Appreciating the simple beauty of what is around me inspired this piece. How a simple rain shower can seem so beautiful, and afterwards, hearing a blackbird song leaves me feeling hopeful.

You bounce and you tap

You run down my pane

Mesmerised I'm sat

Summers day rain

Hypnotic beat

Of your watery drum

Above my head

Rivers run

Crystal shards

And diamonds sit

Reflect the life

Your beauty hits

My eyes wide open

My ears they hear

Life sounds around me

Remind me you're near

Humdrum of the day

Blackbird song after rain

Reminds me so clearly

There's hope after pain
