Left On The Heap.

Updated: Dec 16, 2020

Foreword: Another piece on dementia. It's a subject very close to my heart. This is my interpretation on how it looked from the outside for me.

The dementia It tore her Away from those once loved

Can't hear her In her mind screams, I'm here She can't run

Trapped with the demons in her mind Shackled and chained Unable to escape and find

To tell the ones who loved her dear The ones who held her near I'm still me, please don't fear

Her eyes still see you As they did on the very first day She may not seem as once was, outlook grey

Pathways once so familiar lost in the fog Brain on shutdown Facts unable to log

Lost in muddled corridors of mind Faint sounds of memories heard calling She can't find

Abandoned by herself Wandering aimlessly along Gripping to sliding emotions For far too long

The journey ends In endless sleep Please don't forget her fight Leave her left on the heap..
