Destinations.

Foreword: This piece is my take on the romance of a station platform. The feelings and emotions stirred in me, at least; turns thoughts to the stories of the people around me. I wonder where they are going, who they are going to see, and where they have been. A station platform reminds me of happy times when I was a younger man. I wrote this whilst sitting on a busy platform.

Young lovers sit and talk Dusk light hovers over platform roof Rumblings on track as train pulls in Waiting by tracks, memories of youth

Diesel snake with its straight ahead eyes Screams as it leaves and races by Fumes, they linger, hang in the air Smokey clouds disperse without care

People come, and they go Racing, rushing, to and fro Destinations ahead in mind They have to follow, love to find

Carriages roll in Squeal to a halt Wonder of arrival Now just thoughts

Loved ones meet Whilst others to find Along the way Or the end of the line

Train pulls away, and all is quiet Dusk melted away into inky black night.. (©) Dom Giddy 2019
