A Sin is a Sin
Foreword: I wrote this after seeing a 7 deadly sin themed live mic event advertised within the Instagram poetry community.
A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin
It matters not who does the committing
You can't turn back time, do the job of the divine
Tear up the charge sheet, pretend it's a lie.
A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin
No redacted version here, deny where you've been
Screw up that page
To throw in life's bin.
A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin
God didn't miss it and blink
He knows what's he's seen
The serpent, the fruit mankind's bad dream?
A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin
Progenitor fruit took it and ate
Fell for deception, really believing
Blinkers were lifted, saw obvious deception realisation too late.
A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin
And yes if Eve had listened to him
Would the world still be tripping
Over itself on discarded vats of sin so full to the brim?
For a sin is a sin and so on and in
The end it's written down, trace where we've been
In letters and words as a warning is given
Ignore, nor acknowledge, leaves sin unforgiven.
